L
Long Neck women of the Long Neck 'Karon" Hilltribe. They begin putting the rings around their necks at 2 years of age and continue to do so each year until there are 25 rings on their necks. Only the women wear the rings on their necks in the tribe. The Long Neck tribe are refugees from Burma and have been in Thailand for 9 years, they fled Burma as the government there set out to hunt them down and kill them all and thus their culture. They are allowed to stay in Thailand and are monitored by the Thai government, but can never have Thai citizenship. They live way up in the mountains between Chiang Rai & Mae Sai in small bamboo huts and the women weave all day and make beautiful scarves and other items. The men tend the crops and animals but don't really do much. The men are allowed 4 wives and each wife gets to choose the new wife. The men would be pretty happy and there wouldn't be much time for work.
