So today is our last day in Pattaya and Rick and I will be happy to head off tomorrow although we have slightly altered our intinerary by 3 days (again!).
Today we planned to catch a Songteaw to Jomtien Beach which is only 10 mins south of Pattaya which we did. Jomtien Beach was actually where we had originally planned to stay before we got side tracked and ended up staying in Pattaya after our long bus trip from Udon Thani.
When we got to Jomtien we wish we had have continued on to there as opposed to staying in Pattaya. Its beautiful there with a lovely beach and a lot quieter than Pattaya We walked the beach and the Esplanade and then went to the hotel I had as number 1 on my list to stay. They showed us the room and we thought, bugger it! why not spend 3 days here from tomorrow. So we booked the 3 days at the Jomtien Boathouse with a seaview room with a balcony that looks right out over the beach. It was more expensive than we have paid for any of our accommodation here in Thailand. 1100 Baht per night which is about $37 Aus, but the more you head south toward the beach and coastal areas the more costly the accommodation becomes.
But hey what you loose on the round-a-bout you make up on the swings and we saved heaps on our accommodation here in Pattaya.
When we finished exploring Jomtien we hailed a Songteaw to bring us back to our hotel in Pattaya. I showed the guy our hotel room key tag and asked him did he know where it is and he nodded yes. Well, he didn't, and we ended up being taken all over south, central and north Pattaya and I wanted to get to the travel agent to change our bus ticket to Bangkok from tomorrow to Saturday. Well after the driver had picked up a shit load of other passengers and dropped them off all over the place, we had no idea where we were and he had no bloody idea where we wanted to go. Thank god we agreed on the 100 baht fee before we got on. We must have used up that 100 Baht so he stopped the Songteaw in the middle of North Pattaya somewhere and asked us where the hotel was. We told him in South Pattaya and he got the shits and he started heading back to Pattaya City and he still didn't have a clue and he stopped to pick up another shit load of passengers and I thought bugger this he will still be driving us around the freakin place tomorrow, so I got off and so did Rick and when Rick leaned into the window to pay the driver he was so pissed off that he raised his voice to the driver and the driver yelled at him. We then hailed another Songteaw, he knew exactly where the hotel was and we were there in 5 minutes.
It was then we agreed thank god we are leaving tomorrow. 1 day in Pattaya is better for people like us. Anyway we changed our bus ticket to Bangkok from tomorrow to Saturday and from there we will be travelling on to Hua Hin.
The rest of the day we were so hot and bothered and pissed off over that driver that we thought it best we have a lazy arvo in our hotel and pack our backpacks and sort our stuff out ready to leave tomorrow.
